Meet our Hand & Upper Extremity Specialist Dr. David Thull

Dr. David Thull was born in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona with his family at the age of 11. After graduating from Brophy High School, Phoenix Arizona in 1979 he left undergraduate premed studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. Here he served as President of the fraternity for 2 semesters, and received academic honors from his fraternity. He also enrolled in engineering classes for "fun" and played rugby with the state champion Loyola Lions. In 1983 he graduated from Loyola with summa cum laude Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology.
Upon completing his degree in biology he went back to Omaha, Nebraska where he graduated from Creighton School of Medicine in 1987 in the top 20% of his class. Dr. Thull then concluded a five year Orthopedic residency at the University of Nebraska in 1992.
In 1992 Dr. Thull left the University of Nebraska to complete a one year fellowship specializing in Hand and Wrist surgery at the University of Washington, Seattle. He finally made it back to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1993 and began private practice in Orthopedics and Hand surgery.
Besides practicing medicine, he is very skilled with his hands, and enjoys building items especially from wood or steel. He engages in weight & fitness training regularly. His hobbies include stand-up jet-skiing, sand-railing, 4-wheeling and international travel.
